FAB-Racing Minibike British Championship General Rules & Regulations

Entry Costs & Registration

  • Registration:

    • Opens from 3rd February 2026.
    • Cost: £20.
  • Entry Fees (Registered Riders):

    • 2-day Championship Round: £180.
    • Additional Class: £85.
  • Late Entries:

    • Entries after 4pm on the Wednesday before an event incur a £10 fee (subject to availability).
    • On-the-day entries (cash only) accepted only if space allows, with a £10 late fee.
  • Friday Practice:

    • Optional sessions typically run 10am to 5pm.
    • Cost: £60 for 1 class, £40 for an additional class.
    • Available only to riders entered in the event (unless previously agreed).

Race Calendar & Scoring

  • Schedule: Planned 7 rounds from April to October.
  • Race Format: Typically includes Practice, Qualifying, and 3 Races per class over 2 days.
  • Points System: 25, 20, 16, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
  • Awards:
    • Race Awards: Medals for 1st-3rd in Junior Minimoto races.
    • Event Awards: Trophies for 1st-3rd overall winners in all classes.
    • Championship Awards: Trophies for 1st-3rd overall in the British Championship or CUP class.
    • Note: Classes must have more than 8 competitors for these award conditions to apply. Tie-breaks resolved by MyLaps.

Timing & Transponders

  • Requirement: Competitors will now be required to have their OWN MyLaps or AMB motorsport transponder. This can be Competition Kart, or the higher speed Car/Bike version, but this is not necessary for our events. Note: The Motocross versions will NOT work. There will be a very limited number of hire transponders available at meetings but these will be restricted to replacement of a failed or damaged transponder.
  • Mounting: Must use the correct holder, mounted securely facing down towards the track.
  • Responsibility: Riders must ensure their times appear on live timing.
  • No Transponder: If a rider starts without a transponder, they cannot be included in results.
  • Penalties: Minimum 5-second penalty for jump starts, cutting the track, or taking unfair advantages.

Conduct & Safety (Zero Tolerance)

  • Behaviour: Responsible and considerate behaviour is expected at all times. No foul language or abuse towards staff or officials.
  • Damage: Causing damage to the track or facilities will lead to eviction and loss of points.
  • Consequences: Violation leads to a ban from the event and potential temporary/permanent future bans.
  • Alcohol & Drugs:
    • Zero tolerance on illegal drugs (immediate exclusion).
    • Alcohol consumption should stop by 10:30pm the night before.
    • Breathalyser tests may be conducted; failure results in exclusion from the day's events.

Paddock & Pit Area Rules

  • Movement:
    • NO RIDING in the paddock. Machines must be pushed (engine running allowed if required).
    • Walking is the only permitted means of movement. Bicycles, scooters, etc., are prohibited at all times. This will include from arrival, in many / most cases that will be Thursday.
  • Safety:
    • Work on machines must happen in the Paddock or Pit area.
    • Refuelling: Engine stopped, ignition off. No smoking/naked flames within 10 metres.
    • Fire Extinguisher: Each competitor must have a minimum 2kg dry powder extinguisher available and to hand during the event.
    • Generators: Allowed between 7am and 10:30pm. These times may be superseded by circuit regulations which must be adhered to.
    • Open Fires: Prohibited. Barbecues (if circuit permits) must be raised and extinguished after use.
  • Children & Pets:
    • Children must be supervised at all times.
    • No dogs permitted at FAB-Racing events.
    • Ball games prohibited while the circuit is live (8:45am - 6pm).
  • Cleanliness: Tyres, waste oil, and broken equipment MUST be taken away, not left at the circuit.

Event Procedure

  • Sign On:
    • Friday: 7am - 9:30am.
    • Saturday: 7am - 8:45am.
    • Riders under 18 must sign on with a Parent/Guardian.
  • Technical Inspection:
    • Under 18s: Must present machine and ALL race clothing (helmet, leathers, boots, gloves, back protector) before official practice. Riders should be wearing leathers/boots to enable inspection.
    • 18+: Responsible for their own compliance but subject to random checks. Can opt for voluntary inspection.
    • Spare Gear: Spare helmets/leathers must also be inspected and stickered.

Start Procedure

  • Method: Engine running clutch starts (dropped flag or start lights). Start lights will be RED ON to RED OFF.
  • Grid Position: Determined by qualifying times.
  • Sighting Lap: May be completed if indicated.
  • Late Arrival: Arriving >10 seconds after the last rider leaves for the sighting lap results in a back-of-grid or pit lane start.
  • No Joining: Riders cannot join a race after it has started.

Race Protective Clothing

  • Helmets: ACU gold sticker or ECE 22.05 marked. Good condition only. Long hair must be tucked inside the helmet. Riders not complying during practice, qualifying or racing will be Black Flagged.
  • Leathers:
    • Junior Geared: One-piece leathers with body armour and back protector.
    • Junior Minimoto: Good quality Minimoto suit with back protector can be accepted.
    • Senior: One-piece leathers (or pre-approved full zip-together with back protector).
  • Accessories: Race boots and race suitable gloves required. No body piercings.
  • ID Tags: All competitors must wear a neck "dog tag" or have details stitched into leathers (Name & DOB). It is recommended that the blood group is also shown.

Machine General Regulations

  • Kill Switch: Handlebar-mounted, max 50mm from hand. Must function correctly.
  • Safety Wiring: All oil drain and filler plugs must be lock-wired.
  • Guards:
    • Robust chain guard at the rear sprocket engagement point.
    • Front Brake Lever Guards required for geared bikes.
    • Non-metallic crash bobbins required to protect track surface.
    • Nylon foot pegs and bar ends required.
  • Catch Bottles: Required on gearbox breather, fuel tank breather, carb overflow, and radiator overflow.
  • Catch Trays: Close-fitting metal tray (capacity >50% of lubricant) required for unfaired 4-strokes. Fibre/carbon fibre accepted for faired machines.
  • Fluids:
    • Coolant: Water only (no additives).
    • Fuel: Roadside station fuel only. No race fuel or octane boosters.
  • Numbers:
    • Front: Minimum 120mm high. Single colour in strict contrast to background.
    • Side: Should be used where possible.
  • Noise Limit: Max 98db (full throttle pass).

Flag Rules

  • Green: Safe to Race.
  • Red: Race Stopped. Slow down, return to holding area/indicated stop point. Riders involved in the cause cannot restart.
  • Yellow (Stationary): Caution, no overtaking.
  • Yellow (Waved): Extreme caution, prepare to stop, no overtaking.
  • Black: Mechanical/Riding fault. Return to pits.
  • Yellow/Red Stripes: Slippery surface.
  • Yellow w/ Black Cross: Last Lap.
  • Chequered: End of race.

Trading & Coaching

  • Policy: No trading without permission.
  • Fee: £200 (2-day) or £220 (3-day).
  • Coaching: Includes paid rider coaching. Coaches must register, pay the fee, and provide liability insurance details.

Important Notes

  • Testing Ban: Competitors must not practice at a circuit less than 7 days before an event.
  • Environmental: Disqualification possible if a machine contaminates the track due to negligence.
